What To Do When Your Toddler Hates Bathing

Toddlers and bath time are arch nemeses. Inevitably, during bath time, you'll find parents chasing the child with a towel and rubber ducks in hand, luring them to get into the shower.

Now, we believe that bath times should be fun and make for a super relaxing time for all the parties involved. To ensure that the process is as smooth as it can possibly get, here are some tips to help you get your bath-resistant child into the bath:

1) Get them Excited

Build up the excitement with respect to bath time. Take him/her shopping for ducks and bath time toys and get him/her excited to play with them while taking a bath. Don’t make bath time just a time to get clean. Children crave for excitement and for things like bath time, make it exciting with toys and games incorporated into the bath. With that, children will be looking forward to their next bath.

2) Toys

Children absolutely love toys! With bath toys, you can convince them to bathe. Rubber duckies are an all-time favourite, other than that, there’s the steamer or pirate to keep your child busy while you scrub them clean!

3) Pretend Play

Suddenly, your child is a captain of the pirate ship or a naval officer of a ship ready to attack! Your child can pretend to invade the rough seas or attack the vicious rubber duckies! These pretend plays keep the child amused and make bath time a merry time. Also, parents can involve themselves in these pretend plays to make bath times more fun.

4) Sing

Bathroom singing has always been a trend amongst the adults, so why not apply that to the kids. Children can sing their favourite rhymes or can experiment with new bath time rhymes. Sing out loud with the kids, get involved and make your toddler’s bath time a musical one.

Remember, to create a schedule for bath times to which your child can adapt. When it comes to bath time, don’t skip it just because you want to avoid a confrontation. Bath times are important not just for hygiene purposes, but they make for good bonding time too. Just make sure the baths are warm with lots fun and bubbles, and you'll have your kids hooked onto it.
